Position: Accounts Payable Lead
Reports to: Accounting Operations Manager
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Pay Range: $65,000 - $85,000
We consider several factors when preparing a compensation package for successful candidates.
Superior is looking for an AP (Accounts Payable) Lead to serve as the subject matter expert for our Accounts Payable function. The AP Lead is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment processing, managing vendor relationships, performing reconciliations and financial analyses, and driving continuous process improvements. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to strengthen controls, maintain audit readiness, and support the scalability and efficiency of our AP operations.This role is based at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute weekly check runs, payment proposals, and ensure timely processing of all outgoing payments
- Process and reconcile corporate credit card transactions and monthly union fringe benefit payments
- Manage outstanding check reconciliations and monitor invoice approval workflows
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, billing discrepancies, and payment-related issues
- Onboard new vendors and maintain accurate tax, compliance, and legal documentation
- Research and resolve vendor statement discrepancies, including overpayments, tax issues, and invoice disputes
- Perform weekly and quarterly analyses, including Pay-When-Paid (PWP), retainage payables, and CapEx/Fixed Asset coding reviews
- Ensure audit readiness, maintain accurate records, and identify aged or high-value unapproved invoices for resolution
- Serve as the Accounts Payable subject matter expert, providing guidance on AP processes, controls, and best practices
- Evaluate and improve AP workflows to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

Your Expertise
- Required: You have at least 5 years of progressive Accounts Payable experience, including ownership of complex transactions, reconciliations, and issue resolution
- Required: You have demonstrated experience serving as a subject matter expert or resource for Accounts Payable processes and best practices
- Bonus Points: You have strong proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
- Bonus Points: You have experience identifying and implementing process improvements within an AP environment
